Instant, Powerful, Memorable Branding! Add .com

One thing that I love about domain names are they allow for a company to make a near instant brand off of a common known term simply by adding .com to the “name”.

Even a small startup can become nearly an overnight memorable brand because of the domain name they use.

For an example, real estate companies spend huge amounts of money getting there name out. In doing so, they are trying to say “Hey, we deal in Real Estate” and we want you to remember our name X so that if you have any real estate needs, you can contact X.

Does that Easily tell these potential customers where to find them? Like an 800 number or address? Nope!

What if your Brand was RealEsate.com ?

Do you think people would know what your business offers?

Do you think people would be able to “find” your company easily?

Do you think people would be able to remember your company name?

Do you think you would have to “tell” people how to find you?

Domain names are just like any other “brand”. There is only one Sony®. There is only one Wal-mart®. There is only one Microsoft®.

Yep, you guessed, there is also only one RealEstate.com.

Domain Names are powerful in many ways and Branding is surely one of them! The next time you think a generic domain name is “to expensive”, think of the branding power behind it with near instant recognition and what it may cost you to get the same affects with some “creative” name you come up with.
